This website presents a “Spectrum of Opportunities” that states, and in some cases municipalities, can consider to influence policies and practices in the ECE setting to improve nutrition, breastfeeding, and physical activity and to reduce screen time. This Spectrum of Opportunities was developed on the basis of work that is going on in states; input from the “Health Kids, Healthy Future” Steering Committee, a public-private partnership dedicated to advancing research, policies, and practices that promote obesity prevention in ECE settings; and input from an Expert Committee on Early Care and Education that was convened by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA, in September 2010.
